3D Printing meets Machine Learning...
Years ago, calibrating a 3D printer felt like a mysterious, almost impossible task. Without a deep understanding of 3D printing physics, tuning for different materials or setups was a challenge. I enjoyed experimenting with custom hardware and new filaments, but I always faced an uphill battle when it came to fine-tuning the print profiles. There wasn’t an easy or effective way to do it.
My interest in machine learning began when a friend introduced me to it, long before it became mainstream. Combining that technology with 3D printing felt like a natural progression. If I could train a model to handle the print settings for me, it would eliminate the tedious manual process. That’s when the idea for AI-driven calibration was born.
What sets this calibration system apart is its intelligence. It’s not just trial and error, or a set of instructions from a blog post. This is a full data pipeline that automatically transforms 3mf files, applies advanced machine learning models, and soon, will include a vision system to score the quality of a print from a phone camera. We’re not just testing every combination—we’re leveraging AI to calibrate with precision and speed.
Our goal is simple: lower the barrier to entry for 3D printing while speeding up the calibration process. With so many printers and filaments out there, it’s impossible to have a profile for every combination. Our AI takes a profile, learns from it, and customizes it to any setup quickly and efficiently. You might not need it for every print, but when you do, you’ll be glad you have it.
